Purchasing LED Flood Lights

October 21st, 2011

Researching a product before you make a purchase is important for maximizing the money you spend, as is understanding a technology before investing in it. LED flood lights are an exciting new field expanding on the already prolific use of light-emitting diodes across practically every industry. Now individuals are starting to deploy this unique lighting technology for their homes and businesses. Not only can light-emitting diodes end up providing brighter environments, but they can also drastically lower your energy costs over time. Many buyers are put-off by the high price of flood lights, especially the LED variety which can average around $50 to $100 dollars for smaller applications.

The reality, however, is that you end up saving a great deal of money over time even though you may be spending a higher amount for the product initially. Your electricity bills will slowly decrease over the months and years, ultimately netting you serious savings. If you are making a flood light purchase for a school district or government agency, your reduced energy costs could actually end up qualifying you for specially allocated state and federal money that awards more environmentally conscious energy practices.

LED lights also last far longer than florescent bulbs. They produce more light with less wattage and are much harder to break or dim over time. The bulbs themselves are typically directional instead of ambient, so they can be strategically placed in an environment to directly serve a purpose. They only dim at a rate of 10 percent over 6000 hours of use, meaning you won’t have to worry about less light over time.
